It happened around 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 in Coram, Suffolk County Police said.

The victim, Martin Tiess, 57, of Mount Sinai, was walking with a bicycle on northbound Route 112 when he was struck by a northbound 2001 Suburban, according to police. 

Tiess was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Suburban, Troy Norr, 50, of Manorville, and a female passenger were not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
